An official welcome back to the 2024 college football season is in order and now that we’ve gotten enough out of the way from Thursday, Friday, and the Saturday noon games we know what we can expect to see on the Saturday night games
Huge Talent Differentials Are Covering Huge Spreads Against The Bottom FBS and FCS Opponents
For the gambling crowd, this is something to look at for the rest of the night. Week 1 is your chance to show off what you can do on a national stage and we’ve seen many of the best offenses in the country go out and already cover a huge spread. This doesn’t even need to be looked at as the “best offense” either when you throw in FCS opponents. Look at how good those FCS opponents are as well in the past and try to look past teams like Colorado struggling with North Dakota State. Oklahoma covered -42.5 against Temple, Arkansas covered -58.5 against Arkansas-Pine Bluff, we had Mizzou cover -50.5 against Murray State, Tulane covered -28 against SE Louisiana, Utah at -38.5, against Southern Utah, Louisville easily covered -39.5 against Austin Peay, and Tennessee hit -39.5 against UT Chattanooga.
With all that being said look out for tonight if you need some last minute plays. Below is a list of teams with big spreads and a huge talent differential than their opponents. I have underlined any that I’m playing myself.
Liberty -39.5 vs Campbell
Alabama -34 vs Western Kentucky
Ole Miss -44 vs Furman
Kansas State -36.5 vs UT Martin
Memphis -37 vs North Alabama
USF -39.5 vs Bethune-Cookman
Oregon -46.5 vs Idaho
SMU -47 vs Houston Baptist
Arizona -30 vs New Mexico
Washington -25 vs Weber State
Media Darlings Are Once Again Underperformers
We saw it to star the 2023 season after everyone was in love with Texas Tech during the offseason and we’ve already seen it in week one this year. NC State went out and struggled in a game they should have technically been able to finish their respected opponents off easily in and then Virginia Tech lost to……. Vanderbilt? I’m not reading too much in to this one but if we see teams that the media have talked about all off-season like Arizona struggle tonight it may be something to pay attention to for the rest of the season.
